Optimizing photos in iPhoto is vitally important. Images must look good but also be small enough to not encumber your website loading times. Especially after the latest Google update that penalizes slow loading sites! Check your sites page speed here.
This iPhoto tutorial will show Mac users how to quickly gather and export a group of images ready for publishing on your website.
To create a folder of images ready to publish to the web with iPhoto:
- Create a album and/or select only the photos that you want to optimize. (hold down the Command key to select and de-select the images you want, or choose EDIT > SELECT ALL if you have them all in one album)
- Choose FILE > EXPORT.
- Keep the selection on File Export, then choose Kind: JPEG, JPEG Quality: Medium, Size: Medium (or large if you want to display these images for something like a portfolio)
- Export and Tell your mac where to put the images.
